Quotes from President's Message

"...Maritime Drilling Schools Limited is the global leader in entry-level training for the oil & gas and mining industry..."

"Our students have found employment in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, South America, West Africa, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Australia, Far East ..."

"MDS is the boot camp for the drilling industry with over 23,000 certifications issued to students since May 2000 with 92% - 96% of our graduates are directly employed in the oil & gas and mining industry,  1 - 4% marine related some of it oil & gas, 3% construction some of it oil & gas, 3% other occupations and 1% unemployed.  Our students have  found employment with more than 70 drilling contractors around the world..."

"...a comprehensive training program that is tailored specifically for the drilling industry..."

Since our inception of May 2000 the training our students received has well paid off with no serious injuries or fatalities accounted for and students reaching their goals by working hard and safe and becoming great managers in the oil & gas business.  We have students making well over $150,000 to $300,000 a year incomes. We at Maritime Drilling Schools are meeting our mandate as well as accomplishing our mission to be the best at what we do.  Our goal is to see our students be the best in the industry by working safe and efficiently to protect themselves and others working along side them.  As well, provide you with the knowledge and tools to advance forward in this industry with confidence and skill to achieve your own goals much faster"Our president strongly believes that if you want it bad enough you'll get it and always be a positive thinker by taking the bad and turning it into something good!!!"

With the next rebound to come of higher  prices of oil & gas and minerals as well as the present and future demands of these resources, should have you looking for a beginning or new career in these industries.  Another issue is the baby boomers, which the oil & gas and mining industry is already experiencing as their key employees are ready for retirement and no personnel to replace them with.  In short, now is the time for training with greater opportunities for those seeking a rewarding career.  The experts responsible for re-tooling / advising employees for the future industries after the sudden collapse   in the auto, logging and manufacturing industry are stating future training should be focused on the oil & gas industries.

We have trained men & women who are farmers, fisherman, tradesman, engineers, geologists, general laborers, and every culture you can imagine for this industry.

"...an individual starting out in this dynamic industry, can range from $70,000 to $100,000 in Canada or  $62,000 to $85,000 in the United States per year..."

"...The Drilling Technology or the Professional Safety & Training Designations Program will help you acquire the knowledge and management skills to advance further in your career..."

****Maritime Drilling Schools Limited is global leader in training entry level persons for the oil & gas drilling industry. Our students have found employment in the Southern United States, Africa, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Eastern and Western Canada and other parts of the world.  Our program has trained over 700 students since May 2000 with 83% of our graduates finding employment with more than 40 drilling contractors around the world.**** Welcome to Maritime Drilling Schools Limited website. Please ensure that you read all the contents on this page. I hope that the following information will help guide you in making your decision.

Experience MDS. With increased consumption of natural gas and crude oils around the world, industry analysts anticipate major increases in the search for hydro carbon recovery.  Industries biggest asset is quality trained people. Maritime Drilling Schools Ltd. is committed to the challenge of training people globally in preparing for this present and future industry.

Maritime Drilling Schools Limited has taken the initiative to ensure training is relevant and meaningful to the drilling industry.  This Pre Employment Floorman (Roughneck) Training Program will provide students with a comprehensive training program that is tailored specifically for the drilling industry. Students will learn how to safely operate and maintain drilling equipment and the job functions that are relevant to drill floor and deck crew operations.

Students will also learn, the skills of a Roustabout and Leasehand with a high emphasis on Oilrig safety.  Please visit the rest of our website and come grow with us, experience the journey as MDS & help train the general public and trades persons for present and future oilfield jobs.  As this industry is becoming more automated and less labor intensive e.g. computer automated robotics.  Future generation rigs provide equal opportunities for men and women.

In August 2001 a study showed that over 63% of oilrig workers are late 40's and 50's. This has set off alarms, Petroleum Producers are looking at what may happen over the next 5-10 years from now as those employees begin retirement.   Operators and Drilling Contractors are looking at ways to attract new entrants to this field by holding information sessions at schools and colleges. The United States is expected to triple their consumption of Natural Gas over the next 20 years. A recent study done by the Greater Halifax Partnership with the Conference board of Canada alone, has reported in their study that by the year 2020, fifty billion dollars is expected to be spent in Nova Scotia Offshore and Onshore oil & gas industry and creating at least 57,000 jobs. Now is the time to get trained for this aggressive developing industry!!!

Sharing the views and philosophies of two global industry leaders and because of the different rig characteristics e.g. land rigs verses offshore rigs, manual equipment verses automated and robotic equipment,  competency training (Practical Oilrig Training) should be done and rated by the employer. After our students are given the basics of operations and skill development with high emphases on rig safety, the employer can now focus on practical training that is relevant & specific to the rig type he or she will work on. Our decision on competency (practical training) was based on the recommendations and advice of the Global Leaderships for the drilling industry (IADC) the International Association of Drilling Contractors who represent 95% of the drilling contractors worldwide.

Rate our credentials by reading what some of the largest industry employers in the business and past students have to say, by clicking the testimonials tab at the top of the page.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in Maritime Drilling Schools Limited and hope this website helps your decision making and wish you all the best, with your future endeavors.
