WellCAP® Well Control Accreditation Introductory Level

(IADC) International Association of Drilling Contractors

(IADC) Established Principles:

The WellCAP program is based on the principle that proper training, emphasizing the knowledge and practical skills critical to successful well control, produces competent rig crews. Using quality benchmarks developed together with operators, drilling contractors, professional trainers and well control specialists, WellCAP ensures that well control training schools adhere to a core curriculum developed by industry.  Accreditation is achieved only after an extensive review of a provider's curriculum, testing practices, faculty, facilities, and administrative procedures.

WellCAP offers benefits to all involved:

  • Operators and drilling contractors can be confident that their rig crews have undergone suitable instruction, resulting in an internationally recognized training certificate. They are also able to reduce costs previously caused by duplicate training and have access to training documentation and records.

  • Governments and regulatory bodies benefit from measurable standards, the establishment of core curriculum and job skill guidelines and an industry-administered program of self regulation.

  • The training school itself gains the recognition of industry by meeting benchmark standards for quality and training.

  • The industry overall has access to continuously-updated curriculum guidelines for a variety of rig operations.

Maritime Drilling Schools has adhered to IADC principles and achieved a core curriculum that meets the IADC WellCAP® Well Control accreditation for Introductory Level Drilling, Workover and Completions.  This program will be offered in conjunction with the Pre Employment Floorman (Roughneck) Program.
